243 powder recommendation

I’m looking for a powder recommendation for the Hornady 100gr Interlock in 243. I’ve used Varget for the 75 V-Max with good results, but most say it’s too fast for the 100’s.

Varget 33.0 grains is great, IMR 4895 35.0 grains, IMR4350 38.0 grains, RL 17 38.0 grains, RL 19 40.0 grains, all tested and work fine.

I know you asked for info on 100gr, but I've dropped down to 95 gr Noslers with better results on accuracy.
I use 34.7 Varget on 95 gr Nosler BT in a sporter barrel. It does heat the light wt. barrel up after 3 shots but is accurate.

I may do that a some point but I've got a few boxes of 100's to shoot up first.

I certainly agree with your assumptions.
I had the best loads for accuracy and velocity with Norma 205, which is similar to H4831.
4350 is also good, but it will take considerable more 4350 to bring the velocity up to what is expected with a 243, than the loads being pandied about in this thread.

That's an excellent load. It gives the 100 grain bullet the velocity the 243 was designed for.
I worked up a load for the strong Ruger 77 that gave 3090 fps, with Norma 205, which is similar to H4831, but always gives a little more velocity.

Ya, I bought about 5 lbs. of it from Chas. Parkinson in London years ago for about $2 a lb. In my .243 Savage model 100(?) with any 100 gr. bullet and especially 95 gr. Noslers, I could bench rest three shots into 3/4" at 100 yards and shot many deer with it. I also chronographed the loads but do not have my data at hand.

H450, a lovely fine ball powder metered very accurately.

I hit one ragged hole at 100 yds with each of my .243s using H4350. 85 gr Sierra HPBT with IMR4350 and 95 gr Nosler BT using H4350. No idea on velocity but assume 3200 and 3050 given the range results vs. drop charts.
