.243 vs .30-30 on deer?

It's a 336. Thinking I might get out of lever actions entirely and focus on bolt guns in .243, .308, etc.

I might already be on the way to pink camo.

I have to admit... I kinda like the look of the colours on this rifle. :D

The schema has grown on me. It was supposed to be loud, and I think we accomplished that. The red and orange don't differentiate so well in the pics. If I do another I might see if I could replace the red with some sort of neon green.

Oh, please do!!! And post pics for all to enjoy... I just pray that the animals shot with that gun don't see it before "lights-out!" They would die of embarassment before blood loss...

Even though I would never do it myself, I met a fellow that gets his moose with a 223 and 60 grain partitions. Either cartridge being discussed will be adequate for deer.

I don't hunt game LR, and shoot at distances like 1000 yards, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. I don't hunt moose with a 223, again that doesn't mean no one else can or should not. I don't road hunt, or hunt over bait anymore either, however everyone should have the right to without harassment. We need to start supporting each other in the ways we hunt, no one else will.

X2, Agreed.........

...... How does the .243 compare in the bushes? Is the velocity too high for close range?
I don't shoot through brush with anything but a shotgun, but based on last fall you can shoot 95gr Noslers into deer at close ranges (25-50y) without it blowing up. I am a big .270 fan but at shorter ranges the .243 is just such a pleasure to shoot and produces solid results.

So let me get this straight... If you shoot two deer with the other caliber, your .243 will account for 20 deer this fall??? I'm betting the other calibers account for zero deer... In which case, I believe your .243 will harvest ten times as much... ;-)
Actually, if I don't shoot any deer with all my other rifles then the first deer with the .243 would be infinitely more, but thats getting technical. Lets just say that my math is half decent and with the right application of time, money and permits I got a pretty good idea of how a .243 will perform on deer up to 150y.

People might be laughing but this gave me a great idea to 'colour code' my stainless/synthetic Tikkas. Thanks.

Oh yes go with the OHS/WSBC approved Hi–Vis fluorescent lime/yellow and orange colours BC forest workers have to wear. Methinks the stainless portion may qualify for the required silver part. ;) :p

Perhaps Krylon fluorescent over a white base coat...
