243 win m14 barrel?

Like the title says iv been looking for one off and on for awhile. Seen one Two years ago at a local show but didn't have the cash at the time.
anyone know if any barrel manufacturers make these.
 
Herron Arms was going to make a run off them don't know what happen to that I was more interested in a 338 federal at the time you mite want to give them a call

243 win uses a necked down 308 win cartridge thats why its interchangeable with just a barrel , everything else would remain the same.

I'd love a 243 win barrel also , its a great caliber , i think it would have been a amazing cal for them to adopt back when military was looking for 308 alternatives , shoots flat , recoils low , and rounds have enough weight to reach out further than 5.56×45.

The .260 Remmy M305 would be a dream to shoot/ carry / own / fondle / watch and recite, "Did you join my Marine Corps to suck ####, Private Pyle?"

I did fondle and examine some M14 rifles built in .22-250 and .243 and 7mm-08 at a secret location (stores Unicorns, also) that I'm honour bound not to speak about! I just went and found another M700 Remmy in .22-250 for coyotes. Solves that desire / jones for a .22-250 M14. Easy peasy ! :wave:

Do they not use the same bolt face though? In which case all you'd have to change is the barrel, no?
 
Yeah, the thing I was curious about is pressure at the gas port. We already have to be kinda picky with regards to bullet weight, powder burn rate and what kinda MV we go for, I wonder how it would work with lighter bullets, like 6.5s with Varget or 4350? I think it would be awesome to have an M14 in 6.5 CM or .260!

Yea the 7-08 would be really nice also.

I just love the 243 for its no kick at all characteristics and its still quite powerful.

7-08 also is low recoil

(not saying my m14 is high recoil at all really ).

Just one of the main reasons for moving to 223/5.56 was to lower semi/full auto recoil and i think a 243 would have solved that perfectly while maintaining great range.

guys still shoot the 1000's with 243 (heavily tuned however and many 243 ackley improved but meh close enough).

pressure wouldnt be a huge issue tbh. its all relative , lower grain = less pressure = + fps/powder = same pressure
 
I have customized my M305 with a med/hvy varmint barrel contoured to fit. I reluctantly stayed with .308 but really wanted to go with .260. The Barrel is custom from Ted Galliard from Mefort Sask. The custom gas system and refit was from a machinist/smith in Calgary. Any caliber will work in any custom barrel, setting the gas system would be the trick and I didn't want to pay for someone's education on my barrel so I stayed with a standard.
