I was thinking of getting a 243 wsm built on a remington action custom rifle.Any imput hands on experiance with this round would be awsome.

I fail to see the appeal of this cartridge as apparently so too does the buying public as it's a dead horse for Winchester. I guess it depends what you want to use it for and what you hope to gain over more convential cartridges but I look at all the WSSM cartridges as nothing more than a marketing ploy that flopped.

Seems so I saw an article that stated bbl life was around 600-700 rnds . But i can't say for sure .

If you want more velocity than the .243 Winchester, the 6mm Remington or .240 Weatherby, or one of the legions of old 6mm wildcats are probably better choices. The .243 WSSM gives you about 10% increase over the .243 (comparable to the 6mm), but brass is harder to find and the cartridge is trickier to develop for--brass is very thick around the neck, which can create problems with seating and chambering, and pressure problems tend to come up FAST, with few early warning signs.

If you're going the custom route, maybe check out the 6mm-06 wildcat. You can make brass easily from .25-06 factory, and it performs on par with the .240 Wby.
