I am fairly new to precision type shooting and I have never reloaded before but will be in the next little bit.

I am getting a new 6mm Shilen Select Match barrel with 1 in 8 twist chambered in 243win put on my Remington 700 action. From what I understand the 6mm barrel will shoot 243 as it is the same diameter.

I currently use 95 grain Winchester and still have a bunch left I was going to use to break in the barrel.

When I do start to reload in 243, is a 95 grain the way to go or should I go heavier? Planning on some 600 yard shooting and coyote's out to 400-500 yards.

Thanks

I could be wrong, but are you thinking 6mm Remington and 243 winchester? If so, the 6mm barrel you are talking about is only the diameter of the bore. Not what it is chambered for. If I am wrong I apologize. If I am not I hope it clears up your question.

Yep, the bore of the barrel is 6mm, but will be chambered for 243 winchester not 6mm remington. From what I understand I can shoot 243 down that barrel. Or am I wrong?

I'm kinda in the same position. I recently converted my 243 deer gun into a coyote rig. I've always had GREAT accuracy with 100grs at long distances. But since I've changed my loads to a 55gr I'm not getting nearly the same accuracy (in fact im having a hard time grouping under 2 1/2 at 200 yards). Any suggestions to a diffrent load?? Something that I will re gain my accuracy but not rip up the dogs to badly??
