25-06 ai

Mine gets 100 gr bullets to 3600 fps with good case life and no expanded primer pockets after five rounds.

I'm just a tad under that at 3550, using RL-17 and 100 grain Gamekings.

To form, I just load annealed 25-06 brass with whatever bullets I can get on the cheap and have a bit of a range day with them and done is done.

Where in the world did you get that idea? Not just mine, but several other guys I know have at least 1500 rounds and still sub MOA accuracy consistently.

As well, all of my fire forming has been done with bullets, either on paper or hunting. We don't waste bullets or wear barrels fire forming.:)

Since the gun is being customized, (it would have to be with an Ackley chamber) It should be capable of significanty better than 1MOA. I don't consider that precise for a custom gun.

I have built several for clients over the years and overbore index does not lie. It is one of the most overbore cartridges going.

For hunting, it would be every bit as accurate as a factory rifle after about 700 rounds. That is more than acceptable for a hunting rifle with only a few shots per year.

I had strange occurance yesterday, a piece of FC 270 brass I had sized down and trimmed actually seperated but the separation occured close to the mouth (1/4 of way down) and nowhere near the head. I have to admit this case was surely not on its first firing (or second) and was likely a litte too brittle for this experiment. either way nothing got stuck or damaged. All the rp and win brass I fired came out fine (dont' see any excessive stretching). Finally got the scope dialed in and firforming load is about MOA, didnt' check speed...will clock the next ones now that I will be shooting with formed brass.
