25-06 for a deer rifle?

Another vote for the 25-06 with 115 Noslers. I prefer the Ballistic Tip for
deer, but wouldn't hesitate to use the 115 Partition on Bullwinkle ... or elk for that matter.

I've yet to shoot at anything with mine, but it should work like a hot damn. I tend towards heavier bullets so I don't usually get the blistering top velocities that some guys do.

I've used both the nosler partitions and Balistic tips on deer

the 25-06 is a great deer gun, its my main deer gun actually but I have a few choices for larger game 30-30, 303, 308, 7mmRM, 300WM, but when I'm just going for deer its the 25-06 that I take out of the vault.

If your reloading or going to reload you'll be happy with 25-06 for deer

On deer sized game, the 25-06 gives up nothing to the 270win.The 25-06 is one of the best choices available for this use.

Except 30 grain of bullet weight......

The 25-06 is a great cartidge. It has plenty of reach for most hunters and those that complain it's too short at the 500 yards they always shoot at don't measure the distance accurately anyway.

I wouldn't recommend it for big game like moose or elk, but it's a damn fine deer cartridge. It might not have the stopping power like a .270 or .300 calibre if you shoot through the shoulder, but it's not the place to target anyway.

What is great about the 25-06 is that it's easy to shoot and you can shoot it lots without breaking the bank. The best rifle is the one you shoot the most and you'll like shooting this one.

I still need to learn about reloading and the different bullets out there because this will be my first rifle that I actually put time into. What is the difference between the nosler ballistic tip and the nosler partition in terms of effect on deer?

the deer I've shot don't seem to know the difference. :D

From what Nosler has published, or at least how I've understood what I've read the Partitions retain their weight better then the Balistic tips, but the BTips are better at longer distances.

I am still working up my 87grn Nosler BTip load for yotes :D
