.25-06 for Elk?

18 deer tags in my group this year. 6 guys. Party hunting works well for the type of hunting we do. Bow and muzzleloading

Some places in ontario takes 14 people for a moose tag

or 15 for a garanteed tag in my area.

We have 9 tags for 5 hunters in our deer group this year.....we can pick up a whole bunch more tags if we wanted.

15. Damn. Almost s**tty to be the guy that fills the tag first morning lol. I'd rather hunt bear then a swamp donkey anyway. I don't like the taste of moose

I guest its a personal thing...for me Moose is a close second to Caribou. I wont' buy beef anymore unless its grassfed local....Even deer that's been baited with corn is not so good....never mind bear that's fed on discusting bait for weeks/months.

That being said, I hope i fill the tag on the first morning :D

ive found bear to be the best tasting wild game ive eaten.. howver like all things the taste is subject to the feed and i harvest my bears out of local farmers grain and clover fields.

The deer I eat are livin on winter wheat and corn and clover. Taste amazing. Caribou is good and bear is greaat. Wild boar is the ultimate but moose...if I shot one and I'd like to someday. I'd give my share away. Maybe that's why I get invited on 2-3 moose hunts every year? Taste is personal but in my 1 week off I'd rather hunt a bear then anything else

25-06 Pffftttttt....I coulda killed this one yesterday with a ball peen hammer.....

I thought Elk were alot bigger! Some of the Moose I have shot, had alot of size on this guy..

Wow, them eastern elk are a LOT smaller than our Rocky Mountain boys !! I've seen bulls that would go 800 lbs easy live weight, that midget looks like he'd be lucky to go 4-500.
I may have to restate my opinion as only applying to western elk.

Not quite sure. First one I have ever seen that close...They are tall..I am in a quite hight 4X4...He is well over 500...Ive shot alot of moose to compare...But I did think they were bigger...

I don't think he's standing infront of the elk, that picture is a bit deceiving. That species of elk are the same ones you have in the Yukon.

Biggest elk in weight are Roosevelt, probably pushing 1000 for a big one. Most mature Rocky Mountain bulls, which are the main species in most areas of Canada east of Van Isle, go 700 or so. Big Yukon/Northern BC moose weigh around 1200-1400, a few hundred less in areas east.

Sweet fiddlers phuck. I thought we was talking Moose. I jumped from the "Anyone hunting Moose with a 257 WBY" thread to this one and didnt put two and two together.

Carry on.

Andrew, you're still phucking retarded.
