I just happened upon a box of 100 grain, hollow point boat tail (match) bullets. I don't have any suggested load for this particular projectile.

Its going to go through my Thompson pro hunter. I have H4831 powder to use. I checked the hodgson site at the start of this forum, but there wasn't anything like that there.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

From the Sierra manual with a 100gr Matchking bullet and H4831, you can start at 47.2 and max is 53.8. They list the COAL at 3.240. FS

Thanks, my Sierra manual is very old.(its not a book, but a three ring binder style manual) It didn't have anything for this bullet. I'll look at a newer one in the future.

I load 57.0 grs H4831 under a 100gr Barnes TSX. Does 3280 fps in my buddy's Weatherby Ultralightweight mkV. No bad pressure in this rifle with that load, but I'd reccomend starting low and working up. Every gun is different

Thanks Todbartell. That number exceeds any information I have seen for that bullet weight.(by 0.8 grains) I'm not saying that is necessarily a bad thing, but, I am very new to reloading and I would like to stay within the charts for the time being.

I guess what I'm saying is that I hope to develop a load for my rifle that has lawyer approval. Also, seeing how I haven't tried any amount of powder yet, I should probably start on the low end and work my way up. I have been roasted in the past for starting above the lowest posted numbers. I will take your posting on advisement.

Thanks for the reply.

My old speer manual has a few loads listed for the 25-06 using 4831, starting load is 56 grains at 3149 fps, middle load is 58 grains 4831 at 3245 fps, and the max load which of course you have to work up to if you want to use it is 60 grains 4831 at 3323 fps.

Thanks Dave. I've been told that the older books have hotter loads. There wasn't so much lawyer involvement back when. I'll take that under advisement. Any of the loads I've seen haven't been quite that hot. But it is nice to know that if needed, a guy could creep up a little.

My pet load for the 25-06 with WW brass, FedGM210M primers, and Nosler 100 gr. BT's is 57 gr. H-4831. Been as high as 60 gr with no ill effects, but 57 gave the best accuracy.

With 115 gr, Ballistic Tips or Partitions, 54 gr. H-4831 worked best for me.

The best accuracy from this gun so far was with a Varmint load of 85gr. BT's
and 58 gr. H-4831 ... several groups under 1/4" ... the tightest: 0.148".

Glad to hear the H4831 has been so successful in your 25/06. I read some great stuff about reloader 22, but my local store didn't have. The guy behind the counter suggested the 4831. I hope to have the same results.

Thanks, but I'm going to stick with just one for now. I need time to try out the stuff I've made so far. Then I will start mixing up the ingredients.
