.25-06 Resizing Question

I'm new to reloading and was wondering: Is .25-06 brass made from resized .30-06 cases inherently less accurate than brass collected once-fired .25-06 cartridges? (Or factory un-primed .25-06 brass?) Does this apply to all re-sized brass?
I was looking at .25-06 rifles but man, is factory ammo ever expensive.

nope.

You can resize 30-06 and have great results - I shot an awful lot of 30-06 necked down when I was a kid cause dad's friends coughed the brass up for nothing... I would run it through a full length 270 die with ample lube, then repeat in the 25-06 die. Usually a bit of trimming and your in business.

If you PM Guido he had quite a few boxes of 25-06 loaded ammo for reasonable... if you were looking for some cheaper loaded.

Thanks, that makes things easier. Thanks for the tip, I'll PM him when I get my paws on something in .25-06. (Although with my current economic climate that might be a while :p)
 
I love my 25-06! Nice flat shooter. Blue box federal runs about $25/box. Shot enough now to reload the once fired. I do not think the factory 26-06 prices are any different than most other ammo. Well, except my 257 Wby, $80/box...ouch!

$80? Harsh! It's probably just the place I looked that had the high price, it was a tiny gun store near Bozeman, Montana. (Was there on vacation, assumed the ammo there would be cheaper than here. Not the case it seems!) They were charging something in the ballpark of $55 a box for the Federal blue... then again they were also charging $120+ for Remington .444 Marlin ammo.
Picked up some .30-06 brass at the Bozeman gun show, guess I'll start resizing!
 
You should really read the threads in the politics section about buying components stateside. Really, it's a BAD idea!!

That's said a trip to WSS in Nanimo should get you a bag of 50 Win new brass for near $30, it's what I pay in Langley for the same stuff as the same store.

x2 on the stateside stuff...

There was also a fellow selling around 400 rounds of Federal brass on the EE for 120 bucks..... Not my first choice in brass unless its the older stuff, but a great deal

I only bought brass, I had planned to reload up there at a friends and just leave him what I didn't use there. Somehow the stuff ended up back in my suitcase however. Well, now I know not to do that again...
Thats a pretty good deal considering its new, Island Outfitters brass ain't that cheap. (Not bashing them, its a great store in my opinion.)
 
"...Picked up some .30-06 brass at the Bozeman gun show..." Exporting brass from the States without their export permit violates U.S. Federal law. The U.S. Homeland Security types are known for doing random spot checks of outgoing vehicles too. And they take their job very seriously.
"...25-06 brass made from resized .30-06 cases inherently less accurate..." Nope. It's just a necked down .30-06. Probably a good idea to use a .270 die, then the .25-06 FL die.
"...$80/box...ouch!..." Has the word Weatherby on it. Everything with that on it costs more.
 
God, I don't know if my friend put the brass back in my bags with good intent or if I simply forgot they were in there but I will most definitely be much more careful in the future.
Thanks for alerting me to the danger of this.
