25-06 vs .243

I have the 25-06 in a T3 lite, blue. My favorite rifle out of all I have owned. Weatherby's, Remington, Winchester, Savages, Kimbers, Sako's, etc. Its light, low recoil and accurate and a the best trigger, same as my SAKO.

The plastic mag feeds smoother than any other mag I have used including all internal mags. We use "plastic mags" on our C-7s in the military and our life depends on it, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I just checked Bashaw sports and they have the SS on for 629.00. You can't beat that deal.

My hunting partner uses a Tikka T3 in 25-06 for deer and we hunt in Saskatchewan for whitetail in the end of November, no problem. As far as the caliber 25-06 is the minimum caliber I would use for 400 yard shots on deer. Actually I would use something heavier like a 270 or 280 with good medium heavy high coefficient bullets for long range. If I was mostly hunting woods then the 243 is fine with a good 100gr bullet. That is my opinion, in fact I hunt the woods only and usually use a 35 Rem. 358 Win. 350 RM all in bolt actions with none of them having over a 20" barrel, long shots are quite rare where I hunt. If you want a real humdinger in the T3 go for a 270WSM, that will flatten your trajectory in short order

LOL I am a weapons tech closing on 18 years now, and have written off hundereds of busted mags. We (DND) actually stopped using the plastic ones several years ago because they broke so often.

Anyways thanks for the input, I imagine I won't treat my Tika mag anything like how the C7 mags get treated in the field. Now to figure out how to get one without my wife finding out.

if you have a 30-06 then you really need a 25-06

I have a Tikka 695 in 25-06 great little rifle.



243's are just not ###y

Go with the 25-06 which is an all around excellent deer cartridge.
