Need some opinions here. I'm looking at buying a new rifle for an antelope hunt I'm going on, but I also want something that could double as a coyote or mule deer gun. Which gun would give you more options or would be best suited for longer range open shooting? Thanks.

If you reload go witha 25-06AI, cheaper to shoot than the wby and close to the same performance.
257wby is a great cartridge crazy flat shooter would be great for antelope in open country as for coyote if you are hunting for pelts forget it. Mule deer it will do wonders on making them lay down. Only down side to this cartridge is that it is pricey and only cambered in small selection of rifles. 25-06 is a great cartridge as well and would do you just as well for antelope in open country only thing is that it doesn't have quite as flat of a trajectory. You can take Mule deer no problem with it some people even use both 257wby and 25-06 for elk with a 120 grain bullet at moderate ranges. As for coyotes once again if you are hunting pelts forget the 25-06 and go with something smaller. Also the 25-06 is cheaper to reload for and have a wide selection of rifles that are chambered in this cartridge.
If you reload I would say go with the 257wby for sure. If you don't reload and cost of ammo is an issue I would go with the 25-06 for sure.

Do what I did, get both.
I have a M77 Hawkeye All Weather in 25-06 and a Rem 700 LSS in a 257 Wby Mag.
The 257 Wby is a very expensive cartridge to use. Reloading it will save some cash. Shoots nice groups, a lot flatter for distance. Bigger boom.
The 25-06 is a cheaper cartridge and will take the mule no problem. I took 2 deer with it this year.
As for the coyotes, I use a 22-250 and a .223 will do the same.

Bob Milek's favourite mule deer cartridge. That's a good recommendation.
.257wby or .25-06.....hummmm its tough for me I really want a new .25cal rifle for whitetail, muley and black bear.... I reload and looking at the .257wby 70-78gr of powder is alot of powder to get 3500fps from a 100gr bullet when you can load a 7mm-08 with a 100gr bullet at 3300fps with only 45gr of powder......
I think my next gun will be a 7mm-08 although the .25-06 looks equally as nice I like to shoot alot at the range so powder cost is a big factor for me.
