Ignoring the fact that most gun crimes are commited with illegal weapons from the states, the stupidity of it is that all the gangsters just went out and bought larger caliber, more powerful guns. Icreasing the fatality rate.
My guess is that the conservatives figured it was a half solution, ban what they can... The idea was probably dreamed up in some brainstorming session along the lines of:
Kim Cambell: So boys, what can we do to make me look like an effective Leader?
Lackies#1: D'uh... Well, if I can read these numbers correctly, most people who got shot, got shot by .25 or .32 bullets. We could ban all .25 and .32 guns!
