I bought some 250 gr bthp match ammo to try in my 338 win mag. Problem is that I can't find any data for that round. I have data for a 250 gr bullet just not one like this. I was looking for OAL and max charge of rl19. I know I can just set the bullet off the rifling and start low on powder and work my way up. But I was hoping to find some info first. Thanks
 
What's the bullet brand? If it's Sierra the matchking hollow point ammo is just a FMJ or SP. The HP is just a byproduct of manufacture/design and not actually for expansion.
 
Load for the bullet weight. Who made it doesn't matter.
There's 250 grain RL19 data on Alliant's site. Max load is 72 grains.
 
Again I have data ( as per what I said in the op) for 250 gr bullets. I wanted to know what the max is for this bullet type. My data says 73.7 gr rl19 is max. However I know that I don't have the case capacity for that much powder thus my question. I use 73.5 gr with a 225 and that is almost a compressed load.

And what would be wrong with a compressed load? I have loaded 78.0gr of RL19 (as per the Alliant site data) with a 225gr SST or Accubond in my .338 Win Mag with no issues and that is most definitely a compressed load.
