This goes out to all the 338 shooters out there. Is it just me or is load data for 250 grain with h1000 a little all over the place?

OK ive been loading for many many years but this is the first time playing with a 338 Lapua and Im going to test out 250gr berger otm with some h1000 in rws cases as this is what I have on hand. I have a nosler book in front of me and comparing that with berger data shows my start load way way lower with berger. Does anyone here have experience loading 250 grains with h1000? Just for reference, where are you guys loading these? I have a private range to 300 that I'm hoping to test these on this weekend.

On a side note I'm not looking to push these screaming hot. I don't shoot 1000y much, more like 5-600 so I'd rather not kill my brass in a couple loadings. If anyone is interested these are coming out of a 110 fcp hs with a 26" 1/9 tube.

H1000 should be a good choice for the 250's. Retumbo may be even better. I know that H1000 and Retumbo can both drive 250's out of my .338 RUM into a single, ragged hole. With your case being a similar capacity, the results should be similar. Of course every rifle is a bit different.

For the 250s, I get good results with H1000, IMR7828 and VV N165. My favorite load is with 250gr Scenar and N165. I got decent results with 300gr Berger hybrid OTM and H1000. My rifle prefers H1000 over Retumbo. Like saskcop said, every rifle is different.

I know h1000 and retumbo (along with others) are good in the 338lm. I was more looking for what guys were loading (charge weight) with the 250's and what velocity was being reached. The load data I'm coming up with is all over the place. And yes after 30 years of loading I know every rifle is different and I will "tune the load" to my rifle but I'm just looking to get some kind of a baseline.

I have an 110 fcp hs and I used h1000, US869 and retumbo. Mine likes 285gr hornady the best. The 250gr lapua scenars showed promise at 96gr of h1000. But I switched to using us869 to use up 4 lbs of it first. There are 2 nodes when I did the load development and I went with the one using less powder. All my recipe's came from the latest Nosler and Hodgons book. I used lapua brass as well.

Tigrr, do you consider your load of 96gn stout? According to berger max is 90gn and and it's compressed. I loaded and shot some at 90gn. They were definitely not compressed loads, primers flattened right out but I know that's no good indication of pressure. Bolt lifted fine and no markings from the bolt on the case head. Need to chrony these but in the mean time any of you guys know what speed those should be running roughly?
