I'm looking for specs on either the standard saami reamer or a drawing showing the headspace dimension. For a 250-3000 savage. Anybody point me in the right direction???
Thanks in advance Randy

Headspace is a rifle manufacturing tolerance. There is no one dimension. Cartridge dimensions can be had here. http://stevespages.com/jpg/cd2503000savage.jpg
You wanting the headspace guages or a reamer? Brownell's has the Go guage, but are currently out of stock for the No-Go. $25US each.
They have finishing reamers too. Not cheap though. $89.80US each.

Thanks sunray but many reamer prints will have a dimension on the print.
I know JGS does this (usually on the shoulder angle at the .375 dia position)
For instance the 30-06 270-25-06 etc dimension is 1.940 I think.(running on memory here now) that is the min headspace size and 1.944 for the max size.
using these sizes not a big problem to manufacture a gauge. I can do the job just need to find the size!! Randy

The reference point on the shoulder of the 30-06 gauge is located where it would contact a ring .375" in diameter...

Is that reference point different on the 250 savage gauge?

I just drew it in MasterCam

using a shoulder diameter of .414" and a shoulder to base length of 1.512" and a 26.5 degree shoulder a .375" diameter will contact the shoulder at 1.551" from the base.

These dimensions may not be exact, they are from the Nosler reloading manual.

If you get the exact dimensions from a reamer maker I can can redraw it.

Randy, I sent you a PM but that is only 1/3 the info. As Dennis asked, what is the datum diameter and angle. Extremely important to know the datum diameter and the angle must be exact. Making a guage is not as easy as you think. How are you going to get the angle exactly correct even if you know the numbers? I just made a 338 lapua guage by the reamer and guage print sheet and I had a hellofa time to get exactly 20`. Being exact made it difficult. I also made a test datum diameter hole and length guage to verify the headpace guage. I took me three times to make the hole perfectly smooth sharp and .4000".

Cheers

Thats exactly the info I'm looking for Dennis most good reamer prints have this dimension on them. I guess this old timer 250-3000 isn't being done too often anymore not too many guys with prints.
I ordered a gauge from the states tonight anyway thanks Randy
