250 savage

You sir are correct, however I have the financial resources to rectify the situation, have never come across a blued one with which to rectify it with. However you must admit they are kinda cool with the 3 incarnations.........the old 308 in the back with red pad, tang safety and blued bolt, the Mk II in the front with the stainless bolt, gray/black pad and new safety and the Mk II stainless in the middle..............

What a load of crap... you are trying desperately to organize the three of them in that filing cabinet in your head... you are lying to yourself, trying to jam a square peg in a round hole... you KNOW that you want all black pads, all blued steel with raw bolts and all 3-position safeties...

Listen Douglas, that itch behind your optic nerve, that splinter in your mind, will NOT go away until something is done about this... and frankly, I am concerned that you seem to lack the impetus to care for yourself... are you South or North right now? Are you alone? Don't walk toward the bright light... get with your people Douglas, asap!

And let a friend help you with this one... you've gotta let people in, big guy... I am standing by with tweezers...

Ohhh bouy Hoyt...............Laugh2

Tweezers...............Laugh2

Yes, sadly it's dead.
Animals are tougher; ranges are longer; etc.
Without new offerings gun rags would have nothing new to write about; and manufacturers couldn't dazzle with the latest and greatest u gotta have.
Another fine savage caliber laid to rest. Oh there will be he odd nostalgia buff or graybeard that will know what a fine round it was and is even after 100 plus years.
the first caliber I reloaded for long time ago

Actually the 250-3000 turns 100 this year. Charles Newton designed it for Savage and they introduced it in 1915.

I would not be surprised to see some firearms manufacturers chambering it this year in acknowledgment of it's 100th birthday.

Apparently Ruger is doing another Lipsey's run of M77 International's in .250/3000...

Picked up a dandy 99A (finally) from one of the posters above . Grandson whacked his first coyote with it over the holidays - he's left handed so it works well.

He mentioned it was a 'real nice little gun' and I reminded him whose truck it belonged in

now if Remington would produce the 7615 in 250/3000 -- they'd have a wonderful medium game rifle ... that we could all decide not to buy!!!!

(well ... I'd buy it!)

Wanted one when I was shopping for a new rifle in 1976. I had studied the features of the calibre and thought it suited my needs.

All I had at the time was a Ross 303 and I had told my new wife at the time that it had a rep for blowing up in soldier's faces.

"Well you better get a new rifle then," she said.

"Yes dear," I dutifuly replied.

Living in a small town at the time and not wanting to mail order a rifle I couldn't handle first, I bought one of four guns that were in a local grocery store.

There was a Cooey .22, a Cooey single shot 12 gauge, A real nice Remington Model 700 BDL in .222 and a Remington Model 700 ADL in 243.

Got the 243 and nearly 39 years later it is still the only new in the box rifle I have ever bought.

Never regretted it. It killed Island blacktails like a hot damn and numerous black bears too.

But I never did get a 250.

Don't worry... I'm sure these won't be cheaper...

When I bought mine our dollar was on par with the US. Now we are 15% below par I am quite sure any new Lipsey's offerings won't be cheaper. Actually now I think about it I could probably get 25% more for mine than when it was new. ;) LoL

Well if anyone knows where there is a blued 77 RSI in 250 Sav or 7-08 I'm all ears.............then I can sell that gaudy SS one to Hoyt..........

Ahhh, if only it were as simple as that... you also need to upgrade that red pad, tang safety .308 to a black pad, 3-pos safety .308... or your world will remain every so slightly off kilter... on the upside, you can't get lost, you will always make a big loop left and end up back at home...

Nope Hoyt, you have misread my level of OCD, I like having the different variations in a model. The full stock being the common thread and style that is important, but the various subtle differences of the evolution of the model don't bother me at all...............but that gaudy, shiny silver one is definitely out of place...................

Ahhh, then Douglas you are only a fledgling OCD... you have come to the right place... "Grasshopper, snatch this pebble from my hand..."

I purchase a Savage Weather Warrior model 16 in 250 Savage last fall. Loaded a few 87 grain Hornady's with 4320 powder. Cleaned the gun up, bore sighted and went to my range. First 3 grouped high. Next 2 were after a sight adjustment. Squares are 1 inch. Looks kike a keeper.
