250 savage

God but I'm weak !! if that R.S.I. was in 243 you would still have it. Oh well its an investment right. David Henry.

Wait until you see that sweet little rifle. You'll be glad to own it. That's likely the last we'll have :(
Of the 250 Lipseys edition, perhaps 25 are in this country in total.

Ruger introduced the 250 Savage in 1974 first in the flat bolt, non barrel warning and then standardized in the 77R 24" BBL and apparently there are some RS models out there dating from this period as well. Later reintroduced in the models we are more familiar with 77 ultralight and the 77 RSI. These are all tang safty models as I have yet to see one in the new 77mk2 action. However it looks like they may be doing a run of stainless RSI's according to a previous post. David.

Mine has a flat bolt above the knob if thats what you mean?
22" barrel & 9/16" across the muzzel, & I don't see any "non barrel warning"
The serial is 70-498xx.
Now how do you tell a "lightweight" from a reg gun?

I'm going to have a shot at this rifle. I haven't seen it, yet. I'll only be interested in it if it is prestine or close to it. Assuming it is,
>what is it worth (ball park)?
>what is the yr of manufacture?
>is it of the desired vintage?
>what would the rate of twist likely be?
>with the 18 inch barrel, what is the max ethical yardage that I'd be looking at for WT hunting?
My oldest (now deceased) Uncle used a Savage 99 in 250-3000 for WT hunting in Sask for decades, and was concidered the most successfull hunter in the area at the time.
Thx in advance for your replies. Cross your fingers and wish me luck in my shot at this rifle.
