hey crew wanting to load 250gr 9.3s up in a Tikka T3, modern day action, is it right to assume ADI data may be old time guns? showing max of around 2400fps with 2208/Varget..........?

52- 58gr max ---------

anyone got much on this?, start mid range ya rekon?

You can't get enough Varget into the case to be at max "Modern" pressures. You'll need to use a more dense, slightly slower powder than Varget to get much more than 2600 fps. A full case of Re17 will exceed 2700 fps.

57gr varget nets me 2500fps with a 286
58gr for the 270 Speer for the same.

which is a lot more powder than what the 250 data is sayin it ya compared it.. smaller the bullet generally higher the load charge...
where do you rekon I look at starting , :) roughly.
not really interested in Minimum loads , my chamber seems nice an tight though...

ok fair enough, an that's good though for sure!
I wont go off the varget (adi), but have 2206H of a buddies :D :D that will yield SFA more velocity I believe?

What bullet?

American writer John Barsness has many articles and books listing his work with a CZ 550 in 9.3x62. He's mentioned in several articles and postings on line that his loads for 9.3x62 have been pressure tested at Western Powder lab and with a Pressure Trace strain gauge system. He reports in "The Big Book of Gun Gack" p. 389 that none of his loads exceed 60,000 psi which is the SAAMI limit for 30-06. Norma cases, CCI 200 primers for both loads - 250 Accubond - 62.0 gr. RL-15 @2647 .89" average; 60.5 gr. Varget @2651 1.12"

I would start there. Their max loads for RL 15 correspond to the max loads in my rifle, but I'm getting a little more velocity than what they quote.

yeah roger that,
helpful thread thanks fellas!

and I guess with the 232gr which I have seen no data for, I should or could start at around 58 just to be Safe ?

Never heard of that book till you just mentioned it... where did you get it?

I bought three of his books and several of his wife Eileen Clarke's books through their website at RiflesandRecipes.com. The full name of this one is "The Big Book of Gun Gack: a Hunter's Guide to Handloading Smokeless Rifle Cartridges".

The ADI equivalent to IMR 8208xbr or Hodgdon Benchmark should shine in the 9.3x62. I've loaded 8208xbr in a Nosler 48 9.3x62 with the 250gr Accubond, 2500ish fps

I just purchased a set of Second hand Dies, RCBS seater, Simplex FLS, 150 PPU brass in MTM plastic boxes and 25 lapua projectiles for $200 AUD ..... fairly good considering new dies are $180 alone..

just to Find a trim length gauge and ill be pumping these Woodleighs out...slow an steadily I rekon :D
