I ordered some bullets some time ago, 250gr. .451 diameter bullets that I intended to load for my 1911. I knew that was an unusual bullet weight for the cartridge, but that's part of the reason why I was curious to try'em out.

I got them in the mail today (mail on a Sunday!), and unsurprisingly, they sport a cannelure and are obviously intended for use in the .45colt cartridge. Despite this, it's still the right diameter (I thought .45colt bullets were sized to .452"?), and I do have some (not much) data for 250gr. bullets in the .45ACP.

Is there was any reason I should not attempt to load these bullets in .45ACP cartridges?

I cast some bullets for the 45 Long Colt I was going to buy but then I never got one so I shot the bullets out of my 45 acp 1911 and they worked fine, you just have to load them so that the shoulder of the bullet is deep enough in the case so it will allow the round to fully chamber.
