So I finally broke down and have a 257 Weatherby coming.

I am just curious what those who own one of these have
found to work well. I never use other's loads---develop my
own, but would like to get a feel for the powders that are
working well for others.

From some research, I see Reloder22 & 25 + IMR7828 and
Norma MRP seem to be used a fair amount.

I would not be interested in any bullet weights under 100 grains.
Thanks in advance, EE.

I have a 257 Wm Vanguard. The bullets mine likes are the 117 Sierra, either FB or BT. I've also had good luck with the 120 Sierra Gameking, the 110 Nosler Accubond and 120 Nosler Part. The old Hornady 120 HP use to work really good also, but are no longer made. The powders you mentioned all work good in mine along with RL-26, H-1000. and Retumbo. Highest vel i've gotten was with RL-33 (3389 ft/sec),but the load was very compressed and accuracy was not the best (1.5 moa) Reloader 22 got me the best combo of vel (3335 ft/sec) and accuracy(.75 moa). RL-26 also done good with MOA accuracy and a vel of 3375 ft/sec.
Hope this helps you HH

Old style 7828 is my current standard for 110s and 115s but have used it down to 80. (3450 with 115s) IMR 4831 has been good for 100s.(3500 fps at an idle, it was a load that I did up years before my boy could shave and I didn't feel like pushing it) I've also use a fair bit of H4831 and H1000 due to its availability in ADI form in Australia. Theres plenty that should work, but this is what I've have good luck with.

There's something magic about 7828 and Weatherby. I use it in .257, 270 and 300.

The .257 is in the "Select" series with reasonable prices for Weatherby factory loads loaded with the Norma spitzers. At 50 bucks or so a box its not worth buying Weatherby or Norma head-stamped empty brass never mind converting 7 Rem. I've got enough of it that I'm probably going to go the other way and make it into .264 and 7 Rem. ;)

Dave......My 257 Bee is absolutely amazing with 110 gn Accubonds and RL 25. It exceeded my expectations by a couple hundred FPS and will shoot into 1/2" @ 100 mtrs when I'm doing everything right. All my brass is reworked W-W 264 WM and my bullets are only seated into the case about .040" minimizing the long leade of the Weatherby spec chamber.
I used this rifle (700 Rem CDL SF) and load to come 2nd by 1 target at a long range shoot we had in Whitehorse a few years back. I was the only one using a sporter weight rifle and beat out 8 other bench type rifles and scopes with a hunting gun. I'd would have won but I just couldn't find the right hold at 500 mtrs (not the guns fault) but did fine at 635.

I have had good results with imr 4350 and the 100 gr Barnes tsx @ about 3500 fps.
Awesome wolf medicine.
