Does anyone know where you can get 25 cal handgun bullets for reloading? wondering if these would work in a 25-06 for a reduced, low noise load to pop a grouse when i'm sheep hunting. I just bought one of the hammond game getters, and it got me thinking, I wonder if i could use something like the speer gold dots instead of a #2 buckshot? or even use a lighter pistol bullet with a reduced load? i have read quite a few forums where people have used reduced loads for the same type of thing. And yes, I know the default answer will be to bring a sling shot. Well, I tried that, and lets just say, that I'll be pretty hungry if I'm relying on that is my main means to kill anything.

I've never used handgun bullets but loaded a reversed light weight bullet ahead of i think it was 5 gr of red dot. Any pistol powder will do. The reason for reversing yje bullet is twofold. no expansion and no danger of mixing them up with your hunting loads.

Assuming you're thinking a bullet used by a .25 ACP it would likely be vapourised in a .25-06. .25 ACP isn't .257" diameter either. They're .251".
A #2 buck pellet isn't .257" either. It's .27 calibre. Hornady makes a .257" 60 grain FP that might work. No idea where you'd get .25-06 data except from Hornady. Don't have any data myself. Looked too.
Kind of suspect anything out of a .25-06 will do a lot more than 'pop' any wee bird though.
In any case, since the .25 ACP pistols were declared too evil to own, demand for anything to do with 'em has dropped to nothing.
Air pistols legal for hunting in AB? You can here. That'd beat blowing a wee grouse into next year any day.
