I have only tried this ammo in my new-to-me custom 257 Roberts with a 22" Shilen barrel with 1:10 twist.
It produced a 3 shot group at 100 yards of 1.422" at 2770 fps (10 fps less than factory spec with a 24" barrel).
This will provide sufficient retained velocity (1900+ fps) for reliable expansion and retained energy (1000 ft lbs) penetration on whitetail out to approx. 257 yards, if you subscribe to the recommended energy requirements.
(My rifle likes Nosler's 110 gr AccuBond ammo: 3 shot groups of 0.582" at 2989 fps (21 fps less than factory spec). This faster ammo will provide the velocity and energy for reliable expansion and penetration out to approx. 500 yards.)
But, have not had a chance to take any game with this rifle yet. All of the game I have taken with Winchester Power Point ammo with other rifles/cartridges over the years have been taken cleanly and quickly, with either DRT or very short tracking distances required. (as always, bullet placement is key.) I do like the Power Point bullets.
In researching load development for the 257 Roberts, I found that many people could not get their rifles with 1:10 twist barrels to shoot the heavier bullets (115-120 gr) well, until they rebarreled to a faster twist (1:9). Others found that their rifles preferred heavier flat base bullets. Others also reported that seating depth was an issue when their short action rifles had shorter magazine boxes that prevented them from seating out closer to the lands for optimum accuracy, unless they were willing to single feed their ammo in their rifles. Not an issue for those who had their rifles chambered in a long action. My rifle is based on a short action (Sako 591), and has a short magazine box that is less than recommended COAL for the Roberts, so my bullets are seated shorter to fit the magazine box.
I would like to develop a load in my rifle with the 115 gr Ballistic Tip. I have one load that I need to try again with Re-22, but the rest of the powders and charges tried so far have not shown the MOA accuracy that I am trying to achieve with the BT. I will be trying the 115 gr Partition to see if it prefers a flat base bullet in this weight. If not, I will be happy to continue to use the 110 gr AccuBond in this rifle.
Hope this helps.
And that your rifle performs to your expectations. Best of luck in your quest!
