257 Roberts factory loads?

Hey guys I am wondering what good factory 257 Roberts loads would be effective for deer and for coyote. Also I see that they have cartridges that are 257+p and not sure what that implies ? Is that a different from the regular 257 Roberts? Thanks, I just picked up a nice rifle in this caliber and need some help to feed it appropriatly as I do not reload.............yet.

The regular 257 Roberts cartridge is underloaded for the older riflee actions.
The +P is loaded hotter for the newer rifles like the Rugers, Remingtons, etc.
A 115 grain weight in a Remington+P would be fine for deer, and you can get lighter ones for Coyotes.
If you have a friend who handloads you can really make a versitile and accurate shooter with the Roberts.

jdemora: What do you mean by older rifle, let us know what you picked up.
I have some good reloads developed for my BLR, and would be glad to share if you have a strong rifle. I have not shot one full box of Remington 117gr. round nose yet and have only used reloads for four years now. It is a great cartridge and will treat you well.
I have a set of RCBS 257 roberts dies with a neck expander die that I would like to sell if you are interested.

The rifle is built on an old arisaka action. It is a strong bolt but not sure if it can handle the + p cartridges as that is not what it was designed to shoot as far as I am aware , but correct me if I am wrong?
 
I have never tried to reload any cartridge but I am sure it is a good way to go. I will see how I like the factory stuff and send you a pm 257 Roberts, I may even ask a private question here and there if you are comfortable with that. Thanks
 
The Arisaka Action built pre-war and early in the war were as strong a Military action as you could find, practically impossible to blow up. However, later in the war, quality declined, so It would be good to have it checked out by a competent 'smith who knows about these actions. If it turns out to be an early production unit, it will handle those +P loads with impunity. Regards, Eagleye.
