I have 200 pieces or so of once fired 7mm RM brass that I have no more use for and I've even made up a dummy round for my 257 using the 7mm brass. The one thing that has stopped me from using the 7mm brass rather than the weatherby brass is the issue of the neck not being long enough. I was told by someone who knows more about reloading then I do that using 7mm brass all the time rather than the correct brass will cause the part of the neck that isn't covered by brass in the chamber to erode and also fill with burnt on powder residue. You can't really clean that small area enough to remove all the residue and this basically limits you to using 7mm brass all the time as regular 257 brass won't fit anymore. If you do muscle it in there you will have much more tension on your neck than you should with factory ammo or reloads using weatherby brass.
Yes 7mm RM brass is cheaper but weatherby/norma is very good quality and lasts a long time.
