Finally got myself some 257bee dies but I really need to get some powder to get started. Right now all I have is Imr4895 and win760. From what I can find, they aren't the best powders out there for this caliber. Where would a good starting point be? I was thinking Rl22 or h4831, but I can't find it anywhere?

Also what bullets are guys having good results with in the 100-115gr sizes?

I load it for my Blaser for hunting. H414 has given me amazing accuracy with close to max loads. I'm shooting around half inch with about a foot drop at 400, meaning I hold just above a 4L milk jug to hit it dead centre. My buddy's with .308s don't think it's even fair. I load 75 grain SSTs for up to deer size and 90 grn GMX for large game. All the deer die like they were struck by lightning and the one elk I've shot with it went about 25 yards after rearing up high.

Ok thanks guys. Now the tough part- actually finding powder. I'm in Regina the next few days so I'll see what I can find here, then I'm in Calgary and Airdrie next week so I'll look there too.

I have used a 117 hornady btsp with R22 and Federal 215 primers.
Velocity has been 3450 or so in all 3 of the weatherbys that I have owned.

Found a pound of Imr7828 at Cabelas today and some 100gr TSX. Not much else to choose from. Might hit wholesale and see if they have anything else. Thought I'd give some 110gr Accubinds a shot but none to be found.

No need to look for anything else, your already there.

What kind of velocity are you getting with the 90 gr gmx

here's the "Quickload" results from my Berger/Retumbo load.
velocity is actually 3315 fps (not 3215 fps)

Results are good (1.25" @ 200meters)
Pressure is actually low (around 49,000 psi

with Quickload, once you enter all the data, the pressure is calculated by the program.
I don't own the program, the results were calculated and provided to me by a guy on a Weatherby Owner's website
