257 Weatherby?

Re-22 is another great powder in this caliber.A lady i knew shot a lot of moose with her's with 120gr Partions.Roy Weatherby shot both a rhino and a cape buffalo with his although I'd rather not try that unless it was a me or them situation.Don't worry about heating up the barrel and groups opening.Who misses that much hunting? I would shoot damned near anything in Canada with my son's 25-06 so the WB can only be that much better! Watched him flatten a bull elk at 400 yards with a120gr Hornady handload DOA.........Harold

I took my buddy out hunting coyotes with his new .257 weatherby mag, shootin 100g weatherby ammo and 2 out of 4 coyotes were blown up beyond repair. Nice gun but too much for coyotes with that ammo.

My kid's load is 67 grains of IMR 4831 and the 100 gr NBT in Weatherby or necked down 7 Rem mag brass. 3550 fps.

This load shot sub moa in my Weatherby as well, I increased the load by a few grains in intervals and got to the 3700 fps mark, accuracy remained the same, even got a bit smaller, which impressed the heck out of me.

Can not wait until next nov in the whitetail stands to try this out, I may even take a September bear just to warm it up.

very cheep to reload, as Dogleg has suggested in many posts, Just use win, 7mm rem mag brass.

Bullets are about a buck a piece for TSXs which work great in mine.

I have so much 7mm rem brass left over from bathering it up around hunting season at our range, Its only about $1.50 per shell to reload, $30.00 vs $85 a box

How many steps to form 7mm rem. to .257 weatherby?

One. The cases end up short, so you will likely never have to trim them. My necked down Remington brass came out straighter than new Weatherby right out of the box, or the same new cases after resizing.

I should list my new Weatherby cases on the EE some day.

Was any inside neck reaming required? Or special load to blow out shoulder?

No, nothing at all. The bases on the new Remington brass didn't even touch the side of the .257 die, so I only lubed the necks and shoulder with Imperial sizing die wax. The Weatherby radius shoulder was formed perfectly as nearly as I can tell, which surprised me a little.
In my rifle I'd go hunting with the newly formed cases and never feel like I was giving up anything. Wasting a couple hundred charges and the first 200 of barrel life to fire-form brass doesn't interest me, if I had to do that I'd just buy the Weatherby brass and be done with it.

I shot my first and only antelope at over 400yds. Nice caliber loved the trajectory. Scored 79.

Just got my SS weatherby in the mail the other day its already to go to the range just need to make up some loads.

I got RL22 H1000 and 100gr Barnes TSX's looking at using 72gr of either to start whats accurate in your .257wby's??..
