257 Weatherby

You'll get a pile of replies from guys that have never SEEN a Caribou, let alone killed one. I've seen hundreds of thousands, (yes I have) and killed a few dozen over the years. Here goes...
There are two types, woodland or mountain, and barrenground. Woodland are about as big as a small elk and about as tough. A 257 Wby is fine. Use a tough bullet.
Barrenground are about as big as an average Whitetail, and not tough at all. Very easy to kill, and even the meat is not put together as tough as a deer. You can literally blow big pieces off of them. I think a 257 Wby is too much if you plan on eating it, and I don't think you should be killing stuff if you're not gonna eat it. If you do use this rifle on barrenground 'boo use a heavy bullet and don't worry about speed. Whatever speed you have is plenty fast.

The 257 takes game a lot larger than it should, simply amazing. Seen a bull moose in Alberta dispatched with one at a ranged 210 yards, hit in the boiler room and it went down like someone jerked the earth out from under it! 120 gr partition.
