26 inch barrel on Remington 870 Police

Can I put a 26 inch barrel on my 870 Police?I would like to switch out my current barrel and put in a 26 inch barrel for upland game any reason this cannot be done?

No reason at all. Express barrels will have no detent ball to snug your mag cap to. I hear a proper sized rubber O ring will alleviate that issue. Wingmaster barrels have the detent ball and will hold under the Police cap. Remember to install a magazine plug.

My 870P was the extended mag version, so, along with the barrel I needed;

Magazine cap/nut
Shorter spring
Spring retention clip
Mag plug to keep it 2+1

All easily picked-up in the EE.

I have an older 870 Special Purpose with 26" bbl. While it would work for upland, I would prefer something a bit litter and shorter for grouse and woodcock.

I added a 28" Express bbl for informal skeet shooting and a 20" VR Rem-Choke for blasting zombies off the porch. If I had to use the 12ga 870 for upland, I would probably try the 20" first, otherwise the 20ga SxS gets the go.

Indeed that would be a little bbl. Mine is 20" non VR with RemChoke.
