Hey guys im having a new Broughton 6.5 barrel 1 in 8 twist 5c rifling in stainless installed on my ruger #1b.Barrel will be 29".Chambered in 26 Nosler,It will be used to reach out for Moose and Deer.
Was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience loading for it.
My last long range wonder was also a Ruger #1B in 257 STW,28" Montana barrel,and a 6.5 STW with a 26" barrel.
Any performance on game, and preferred bullet would be appreciated.
Thanks guys.
One shot one kill:d

Yes I do know that they are way different,im hoping that the 26 nosler will really shine in a 29" barrel...
Had my 257 STW doing 3800 + with 110 Nosler Accubonds and 100 gr.Barnes the blue coated ones at 4009 fps for 10 shot average.
I had a 7mm ultra mag before there ever was one from Remington.404 Jeffery brass necked down and AI. Also on a ruger #1.
Was just hoping someone had real world experience with the 26 Nosler.
Wonder what the 25 Nosler would do?????????
thanks

I have had two 26's. A nosler patriot and a fierce edge ti. I stuck to 120 and 140/142 gr bullets. I sold the nosler rifle, it was a decent rifle but picky to load for. The fierce is accurate, but fairly picky as well. I have been running the 142 LRAB on the fierce with 83.5gr of H50bmg. I am getting right around 3250fps, when shooting my drops I start out at 100 yards and step back one hundred yards at a time and fire a group, I get 33 1/4" of drop at 500 from my 100 yard zero. Fairly flat shooting. I had decent groups from the 140vld as well, at least at short range.

I think with the 26 you could use a 8 twist, depending on where you live. I have a 9 twist 6.5-284 and have no issues shooting the 140-142's at my elevations. I think soft bullets like the berger may stay together better from the 9 twist with the speeds a 26 can push.

Just buy the proprietary ammo, sight and go... By the time you work up a load and/or break in the barrel, you'll need to get it rechambered! lol!
