260 or 6.5x55 in T3 Varmint

Picked her up this week. Now i have to decide on the scope. I have to many options for moose now. 6.5x55, 308 and 300 Weatherby. They'll all do the job.

I've got a leupold Mk IV 3-9x36 in talley ultra low rings and I love it. Prophet river is a good source for talley ultra low or extra low or whatever they're called.

For a longer distance rifle, I would go with a Zeiss HD-5 3-15x42. If your budget cant handle that, I would go with a Nikon Monarch 3-12x42. I would not put a scope with only 8x or 9x on a 6.5x55 varmint rifle that I purchased to shoot long distance.

That is an excellent point. I managed to ignore the "varmint" bit :)

The Monarchs are an excellent deal at Cabellas.

A Monarch 3 3-12x42 is a great choice on a 6.5x55. Works well on my built, anyway. It would perform well on a Tikka, too I believe.

Ended up throwing on a Vortex Viper HS 2.5x10. Like most Tikkas she's a shooter. Took it out with a box of Federal Fusions. After I got it lined up she was shooting a 5 shot group under 3/4 of an inch.
Couldn't believe how soft a shooter these Swedes are.

They're a dream to shoot. Are you going to hand load? My t3 is a laser too. Load development was strange because it never really shot poorly.

Yes I am gonna reload for it. I want to be able to get the max potential out of the cartridge. Also picked up some Norma ammo so I'll have some decent brass for it.
