.260 Rem Build

I am thinking about building a .260 Rem. on a Remington 700 short action.I am so far undecided on barrel make,but probably Lilja.I would like to shoot 140 gr bullets.What twist,1-8 or 1-9?

Get a Galliard 1:8. A lot less hassle than getting one from the states.

Or a Krieger from Obtunded. 1-8 for the 140's. I have a Krieger Barrel in a 6.5x47 Lapua and it shoots, well, unbelievably.

I'd go 8 twist...I did and dont regret it at all, shoots 142 gr match bullets into half moa

I like Krieger, but the Ron Smith barrel on my .375 is pretty darn good. This thing shoots better than any .375 could reasonably be expected to, and sub MOA groups are not uncommon. The Gaillard barrel I had on the .222 made it the most accurate rifle I owned until I had the .308 built with the Krieger. The Smith, Krieger or Gaillard would all be good choices. I have a Lilja barrel on my .243, and while it is better than most factory barrels, I doubt if I would buy another.
