260 rem loads

What are you looking to use it for? I shoot a lot of match bullets out of mine, but for hunting I've used Berger 130gr VLD's and also have 130gr Accubonds on hand.

The load for whacking and stacking whitetails is 125gr Partition, 44.5 gr H4350, RP brass, fed210m primer. Was super accurate in two different 260's for me. Muzzle velocity is right under 2900 fps. I shot maybe 8 deer with it that went a combined 20 feet.

Thanks guys, I want to target shoot, silouette shoot and hunt. My new all around rifle. I have some 140 grain A-max (for targets) on hand but was thinking of 130 grn accubounds or other for hunting. I have remington brass and federal match primers. I also have RL-15, H4831 and H4895 on hand. Looks like I may have to buy some H4350 to try.

H4350 works well with 125-130 gr bullets, I usually use H4831sc with the 140's. For hunting this year I will try 120 gr TTSX in one of my 260's, the other will use 130 gr Accubonds or 140 gr Interlocks

34.5 gr.'s of Reloader 15 and Hornady 129 SST's. Included is a 5 shot group with that load.

40 grs is usually max with 120 gr bullets & RL15/Varget, so 44.5 would make the bolt a bit stiff with 129's :D

FWIW my experiences with the 129 gr SST in three different 260's is nothing like yoteboys groups! The box I had could do no better than 1.5moa in guns that usually shoot half that with most any other ammo. Too bad cuz they look like a good open country deer boolit

Tod, what length do you load your 260 to. I shot one 1/2" group with 36 grs of RL-15 and 140 gr A-max at 2.900" OAL and two 3/4" groups with H4831. But now I am going to reduce to 2.8" to fit in my det. mag. Also I will shoot more groups to prove these loads. And I want to crony them for velocity, just for curiosity sake.

depends on the bullet. Hunting loads get pushed down to 2.82" or less depending on the bullet so it will fit the mag box of my SA 700. Target loads usually are touching the lands @ 2.84-2.89" OAL

For me so far in my tikka varmint stainless, I have used 140 VLD's with H4350 and RL17. Loaded anywhere from 3.005" to 2.885" which is from lands to .120" off. None will fit in the mag, which is 2.835". I have not tried mag length yet. 8 loads using 40.5gr. H4350, and 39.5gr. RL17, 4 seating depths each powder, largest 3 shot group at 108 yds. is just under 3/4", two under 1/4", 1 at 1/2", and the rest at just under 3/8". I don't know velocity, as my chrony wouldn't work, and I have yet to try seated to fit in the mag, or higher charges. 6 of the 8 loads have the exact same point of impact, the other 2 1/4" to the left. Strange, but I doubt that I will be getting rid of that gun any time soon!

41 grains H100V works well with 140 gr Berger VLD's in my rifle. Just tried that one last weekend. Loaded to touch the lands @ 2.89" OAL / 2700 fps

With 120 TSX, the only powder that would give me 2900+ fps was H414. 2940fps with 44gr. H4350, H4831sc and RL19 didn't even come close even at max loads.

your rifle most likely is not at max, that's why your velocities are lacking a bit

OK, since the 120 TSX has come up on this thread, has anyone used this bullet for hunting deer ? or is the 130 gr. TSX a better choice ?

I've shot a small buck last year with the 120gr TSX. About 80 yds, quartering towards, bullet entered behind the shoulder, turned one lung into red jelly and exited through the opposite side ham. DRT
