.260 Rem. What hunting bullet??

Wanna work up a load for a .260 hunting round.

Just wondering what others think.

I want to try Sciroccos in 130 and Nosler Partition in 125.

This will be used for deer/moose/elk and maybe odd stray coyote.

Any loaders out there have experience with these in this cartridge??
 
#26302 140 grain Hornady SST interlocks. They are about 1/2 the cost of the Sciroccos and Nozlers and perform perfectly on game. I use it for bears, deer and moose or elk, if I can find one.

I shoot them in a 6.5x55 but not a lot of difference there. They will group like lazers, if you do your part.
 
So far I've shot three mullies with my .260, two with a 120gr TSX and one with the 120gr TTSX. All dropped on the spot.
 
I've shot or watched at least 12 deer shot with the 125 gr partition. It's an awesome deer bullet, accurate and good enough for bigger game with good shot placement.
 
I've shot quite a few deer with 130gr Berger VLD's with great results. I now have 129gr Hornady SST's, my son shot a doe a couple of weeks ago and it performed perfectly.
 
I used the Remington bulk 140gr. factory bullet with GREAT results. Don't overlook it it just because it's "common". They stay together really well, even when shot into bone. Last week I shot two big whitetail bucks with 125gr. partitions. They worked well also.
 
I load 120 grain Nosler ballistic tips. I can't recall the load I use but it chronos about 30fps slower than the Remington Premier fodder I had and uses the same bullet. More than adequate for deer and a bit quicker than the 140's although the deer won't be able to tell.
 
I shoot 130gr Accubonds in my Titanium and 140gr Partitions in my custom barrel 700. Last year was 120gr TTSX in the custom (which shoot ridiculous), but I am sitting on too many Partitions at the moment not to use them. RL17 in both rifles this season for powder. Doesnt really matter as I only packed the custom one morning this fall and two hunts for the Ti :rolleyes: too many guns, not enough days of hunting....

In the past Ive used 140gr Partitions, 140gr Sierra, 100gr Nosler BT, 125gr Partitions, 140gr Interlocks - all shoot well and perform on game

Id like to try the 130gr Scirocco but they're hard to find. I dont think the Nosler Accubond is too far behind in performance
 
For Moose

I have shoot moose with the 6.5x55 Swede, and if there's one thing I've learned, the 160gr Part is far better than the 140gr Part. If you're using it for deer ,yes the 120-130 is fine. Remember the goal is to kill as quickley as possible.

And I would sooner use a 120gr TTSX than the heaviest Partition available(140gr) where moose are concerned.I have seen enough kills with both the Partition,and the TTSX/TSX/MRX to see that the Barnes bullets will out penetrate heavier Partitions.
 
I shoot 130gr AB's in mine for deer, 100gr BT's for coyotes and plinking. Put any quality bullet in a moose lung, it will die.
