I have a 260 Rem, factory T3. So far I've tried 140 and 123 gr bullets with H4350 and just the 123 gr with RE-15 with moderate velocities that approach signs of pressure, around 2650 fps with both bullet weights.

Anyone that can speak to RL-17, 19 or 22 or even H414 or Ramshot Hunter or other over standard 4350/4831 would be helpful. So far my 6mm Rem has more downrange energy for long range shots using a 100 gr Gameking!

I recently spoke to a Sierra rep re their 140g MK bullets

He said their testing continues to prove top powders are (not in order)
varget
IMR 4895
RL 19

This is for their 140g MK bullets and GK bullets

I have loaded 120 - 123's with R15 to 2900 no prob, no pressure signs - but Varget (37-39gr and and H4350 42-43.5gr) was better accuracy. I did try long ago 43-44 R17, was good too - but stopped using it due to availability.
H414 42-45gr is also a good one for the 260 - it shot 120 smk's into wicked groups at 100 - 300yds.

All above in Lapua Brass and Fed match primers.

Now my hunting loads (130gr GK) are Varget, and accuracy loads (140 Hybrid/142 SMK) are H4350.

I started with H4350 but couldn't get the velocity. I was out of H4831sc so went right to RE-15. Without a chronograph, it takes a fair amount of time to understand what velocity I have at the muzzle. I dropped from 140 gr to 123 gr to get more speed only to be disappointed at 2655 fps with RE-15 (39.3 gr). A 22 1/2" barrel.

I found some RE-17 and have read H414 is good too for lighter 120gr class projectiles. I necked-up Federal Premium .243 brass and use BR-2 primers.

Does anyone have confirmed muzzle velocities with RE-17 or H414/W760? I am shooting out to 500 yds. to confirm drop.

Nosler lists a max of 45.0 grains of RL17 with the 129 accubond long range for 3045 fps in the 260. I use RL17 in my 6.5x55 with the same bullet and end up with a tad more velocity.

A magneto speed or lab radar will be helpful and are worth the money.... It helped me with my browning bar in 25-06 and my rugar in .220 swift ..... Pooped the pants with the velocities.... And made my own dope for hunting .... And I'm still scratching my head at how it works so bloody well ....... I love this stuff .... Have fun and enjoy
