It's my go-to sniper rig caliber. I love the 108 gr Scenars up to 800m at ORA and DCRA competitions. Soon, this might even replace my beloved .22-250 for varmints and coyotes.... I've used Hornady Vmax 95 gr boolits for groundhogs with awesome results coming out of my Shilen Select Match M700 AICS stocked sniper rig.

Like many of you, the .260 may become one of my last cartridges to own... :D

I just got into the 260 thing.... man, why I waited I will never know... Like all that posted before, ditto, and don't wait....
My take is that is was super easy to find the right load (1/2 MOA, just as the gun said it would), light recoil, easy to shoot a long ways with, and easy to supercharge with hand loads if that is your gig....
44.2 H4350, lapua brass, 123 scenars = one hole groups
 
I really like the 6.5mm bores.
I Own 6.5x55, 6.5x55AI, 260 Rem, 260AI.......
Very effective rounds, and usually very easy to get to shoot well.

I would like to use a .260 for coyote hunting, but can't seem to find a factory load in 100 grains or less.
Anyone have any ideas??

I don't think they make it anymore, but I had unreal results from the 125 gr partition from mine.

It kills deer like thor's hammer, right now. The 8-9 deer I shot with it took maybe a combined 6 steps, then the fellow I sold it to did the same thing. It was a 700 mountain rifle LSS with a Leupold vari-x III 2.5x8x36. I only sold it because I had a really good friend with severe back and shoulder problems who couldn't handle recoil and it allowed him to keep hunting.

One day at the range in Ft Mc, I figured the hold over and hit a 1 foot sized rock on the 500m berm 10 shots in a row.

I used H4350, ridiculously accurate for a pure hunting bullet.
 
check out the stickys at the top of this sub-section.one of our members did an incredible job of bullet testing .I was surprised at how well the 120 gr.penetrated .
6.5 x55 sw. - 11,000 moose a year in Sweden dropped with very little wasted meat.
 
well, that's it then! after reading all this good stuff I'm gonna go ahead and rebarrel my custom sniper rig from 308 to 260! :)
2 son's out of 3 and I all have new to us hunting rifles in 260 for this Fall. No experimenting as of yet. We had better get at it!
 
Last year i bought a Icon P.H. in 6.5 Creedmoor did shoot a lot of it, reloaded and made great long shots with the 140 gr, but after a while, it just stayed in the safe, it is hard to get the 308 out of somebody, went back to 308 and never shot that much in my life, guess when you are hooked on a caliber... JP.
 
I have a .260 which I use for long range target shooting. Great cartridge. I'm shooting a 129 gr VLD from Matrix Ballistics in BC. 39.2 gr of Varget, Lapua brass, 2906 fps.

Super accurate, and easy to shoot.
