260 Remington

This is the problem with talking to bartell: he makes it sound that any gun you buy that is not the exact same as his would be an unwise purchase. Oh well, I tried to buy his Sako off him, but he won't budge :D;)

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
Save it for the youngsters that don't know any better. ;)

My 257 or 270 ain't no better than all the others, neither is your 260. All good cartridges, but none head and shoulders better than the rest. :slap:

it'll shoot a 100 grain bullet about 3300 fps, which is 300 behind the big Weatherby. Not bad considering it burns about 2/3 the powder the 257 Wby does, and has 5x as long of barrel life. :) the 300 fps handicap makes the 260 drop 4" more @ 400 yards, not a big deal, I bet you wiggle that much when shooting off a bench rest ;)
Newf here again ..... If your beloved 260 was 300fps faster than something else, you'd extolling that virtue from the hilltops, but when the 257W gets that much more, you say, "not a big deal". If velocity is important to the shooter, 300fps IS a big deal. :)

Why not just load up some 130 TTSX in the .308?

i would own one based on the word of todbartell. compared to my 6.5x55 the 260 rules. i must buy a 260.

that's the spirit Chappy! :D

How would the 260 compare to the 257 w mag?

it will kill deer sized game just as well out to as far as you can see, providing you can shoot your rifle :sniper:
