I have a 260 I'm playing with now and was looking for advice on loads that have worked for others
It is a heavy bench gun with a aftermarket barrel, I'm looking purely for accurate consistent loads pushing 120-140 grain bullets
Along with your pet loads can you be so kind to explain why you chose the powder you did
Looking forward to hearing your feedback
Thanks so much

139scenar and N160, because it works and I could get more speed with this powder than H4831, without going to double base powders, or getting pressure issues in my rifle.

My 260 (28" Benchmark #7) did not like H4350, which seems to be the go-to powder.
I ended up with 142 SMK, VArget (see Sierra load data), Lap case, FGMM primer, and that gives me the groups i want - Very very small!!! Doesn't have the velocity of H4350 of H4831, but i have the accuracy! Was shooting pop cans at 500 yds yesterday with 5/5 hits once the scope was dialled. This rifle seems to shoot best at 2750 fps - every bullet i have tried at that velocity is super accurate.
My other 260 and 130's likes the classic 39.3 varget load - its hot, but very accurate.
Work up.

As always, you will need to do your own load work-up. Start low & work up from there. What works in my rifle may not work in yours.

Having said that, I have a .260 Remington with a 22' Lilja barrel in a Heavy Varmint contour.
It tends to really like:
139 gr Lapua Scenars (seated to 2.250" at the ogive)
Nosler Brass
Federal Large Rifle Match Primers
40.5 gr IMR 4350

This gives me 2585fps muzzle velocity. (I know this sounds slow for a .260 Rem but it is very accurate in my rifle.)

Thanks everyone for the info. Still waiting for my CTR 260Rem.

Already got 123 and 139gr Lapua bullets and brass. Fed primer and both Varget and H4350 powder. If only the rifle would arrive so I an start chrono testing.

And cooper will send you a target with the load used In my case it was H414(w760) with a 142 matching although RL 19 works real well. My wife's uses IMR 4831 with deadly results.

I shoot a Sako 85 with a 1 in 8 twist barrel.
I shoot silhouette with this rifle and my loads are 36 grains Varget. for both 107 and 142 grain match bullets
These shoot very accurately with a group at 500 off the bench with 142's the size of a toonie.

Powder's I have tested & had good results are H-4350, IMR-4350, H-1000, IMR-4451, Varget, IMR-7828.

Settled with a little above max load of IMR-4451 & 140gr Berger Hybrid's. Seated .015" of rifling, sub moa to 1000yards & beyond. Very low ES.

What kind of speed are you getting from that load? I run 47.5 of H4831sc with 142SMK's and they consistently shoot 1 hole groups but not overly fast. With that said, accuracy before speed!
