260 vs 6.5 CM or 243 vs 6 CM

My custom is a 6.5 CM and with 123 gr Scenars, i am sub .5 MOA up to 400 metres @ just south of 3100 fps, it is a great caliber to shoot... JP.

What powder are you using JP?

I have a new barrel being installed on my Tikka in 260 Rem. I considered several different cartridges in 6.5 and 7mm. In the end it boiled down to the cheapest available CM match barrel I could find and the easiest 6.5mm to get components for ---> 260 Rem. Good 308 brass is cheap and plentiful, just run it through the sizer and give the neck a shave. The way they go mental in the US every so often I'm leaning toward cartridges with cheap easy to source components.

I was working with Superformance powder @ 46.7 gr, neck sized only, Hornady brass, BR-2, OAL 2.74C, 3045 fps average, SD10 or less, ES 15 or less, when i resume my devellopment, i will experiment with R-15... JP.

The 6mm VS 6.5mm for long range will be the discussion for a long time to come. I believe the 6PPC is to 100ms as what the DASHER is to 1000ms.
Lets remember 75% of this game is equipment.

Haven't tried it nor seen it yet but with a burn rate between H4350 and H4831 it could be interesting if it has enough energy density.
N160 has been great in my 260rem, excellent for pushing the heavier bullets fast with no pressure issues and can do fine with the 123's as well, although faster powder like H4350 is fine for the lighter bullets.

I'm running a 6.5 x 55 in a rem 700
with Kreiger 26 inch barrel
RL 22 at 49 grains Hornaby amax for target
140 sst for hunting longrange
