.260

I have been shooting the 260 for years and absolutely love it. It is mild mannered, easy to get accurate loads for, and very accurate. Brass is easy to source like Tactical Teacher already said, and there is a multitude of factory head stamped brass available as well. I use Lapua brass and Lapua 136 Scenar bullets for my LR loads, CCI BR primers and H4831SC--but I am going to try some H4350 because those speeds that Skullboy is getting are awesome, my current loads are about 100fps slower. I have never played with the lighter Scenar bullets in my 260s, but the results that Tactical Teacher gets are impressive and I may have to give them a go sometime soon.

There is not even a little tiny hairs difference between it and the 6.5CM, I have one of those too, and while it is a great shooter I will run my 260 all day before I grab the CM. The old 6.5 Swede is a sweetheart of a round too, and as others have said, it has killed a LOT of moose and other big game in Europe and it is essentially the ballistic twin to our favoured 260 here in N.A.

I don't know if the Swede will match the .260 velocity wise with all bullets and a chrony.I've owned/do own several 6.5x55's and they never came close to the velocities claimed in the reloading manuals. The game never cared .....they just fell over.

great round own several .for targets I used h414 or w760 with 130 projectiles, and shot several 1 hole groups with them.I had to load them long and single feed them,so accurate it only took 1 shot on any game I pointed them at

I have owned two 6.5x55 rifles, and have developed loads for three more, four Tikka rifles, and one Sako, and I had a 260rem. I had no problems matching or exceeding the 260 velocities with the 6.5x55.

I have had similar experiences, the swede has a larger case and in a modern action can be pushed above book maximum. I am NOT suggesting you need to do that for your rifle though.

I love the cartridge, have owned and shot about 9 of them since 2001. For what you are needing, it's a great fit. You may want to consider the 6.5 Creedmoor too, as it gives the same ballistics with a greater variety and availability of rifles, ammo and brass

The 260 is a great little cartridge, the mid size 6.5's (cm, 260, 6.5-55) are in a nice spot- decent speed with the 140's, and lots of powders that work well in them. You get into the faster 6.5's and powder selection that produces good speeds gets slim, the "nodes" also seem to get narrow. The 260 is easy to load for, easy to shoot and performs well on game.

Well I Picked one up and I can say I love the way it shoots!! Didn't get anything past 100 yards for the first shoot but seems to be a nice gun. I just picked up some Nosler 120gr. They shoot good although it's the only round I have shot with it so can't compare. I picked up some Lapua brass so looking forward to loading those up and playing around with it.
