Has anyone loaded any of the 260 Lapua cases yet? I want to order my neck sizing bushing for my Redding dies, but I need to know the outside diameter of a loaded round using the Lapua cases.
 
I believe the new 260 Lap brass is .015 neckwall thickness.so a loaded round would be .294 without any turning of brass.
Would suggest ordering bushings at .293. .292 and .291.
This would allow you to play with bullet seating tension as well as give you an option to skim turn brass for uniformity if desired.

Peter and I have talked about this already, and neither of us has measured a loaded round yet. I much prefer to measure a loaded round over trusting a manufacturers quoted neck thickness.
 
My shipment of Lapua brass just came in today from Peter. I will be loading some tonight or tomorrow, or as soon as I get the loading room cleaned up enough to wade through the mess! I will let you know once I have some done. I can hardly wait! I have been shooting with mixed head stamp winchester 243 necked up to 260 and getting good results, but I think my rifle can do better with good quality components. I will let you know!
 
My brass is in the mail, I do hope that it makes it here before a mail strike happens. My gun is soon to arrive as well, but it isn't in the mail. I already have dies and components, but I want to get the correct bushing here ASAP so I am ready to go when everything else arrives.

I'm with you. Many bullets are not "as advertised" in diameter, or will vary a great deal from one lot to the next because of swaging die wear (Berger 7mm 180 for instance!!!!) , so it is best to work with exactly what you have.

Still suggest , rather than the single bushing order after measuring your seated round,
order the spread of 3. Rather than counting on the perfect bushing size ,you will have
the options of testing seating pressures for your load. You will also find that necks and seating pressures will start to change after a few firings.
Or as you say ..order the one now you can always order the others later as needed.
Regardless, I will venture that the .293,.292 and .291 will work perfectly.

My biggest concern at this time, is to have a bushing to get started. I will likely end up with more than one bushing, but I don't want to guess based on a manufacturers specification.
 
I got my Lapua brass last week.I had a .260 ai built,and thought I would just seat some bullets in the cases to go and do a bit of a barrel break in,and fireform some brass.My loaded rounds are .296-.297.Not good for me since I have a .295 neck.
