.264 bullet test **update**

Just a word of caution bcsteve. As a little bit of "piece of mind" It would be a smart idea to "mic" each bullet before you load them to make sure that they are indeed 6.5 bullets and not something similar like .270.

I say this because I made this same mistake last year and shot some bullets that were suppose to be 270 and they ended up being 7mm .284 instead of .277. It turned out to be a costly mistake.

I'm not saying anyone here would intentionally send you the wrong bullets but in our busy lives some things could accidentally get mixed up.

Just a thought, its your rifle!!

How's the test going?
I have some 6.5 140gr PSPCL (Remington) bullets. I dont' know if it's worth testing them, as most guys would rather use a more reputable bullet when shooting the 6.5. I got them for range work.

The garage is halfway full with newspaper so it should be soon. I appreciate the offer for the Remington bullet but please!!!! no more bullets!!! :D .

I know it shouldn't be an excuse but I've been over my head with kitchen renos for the last two months. Don't worry guys, nobody is getting ripped off, it is coming.

Might I make a humble suggestion. Shooting into wet newsprint will often result in very lovely mushrooms. I did a fairly massive study of 35 caliber bullets back in 1992 using wet newsprint. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34959 Very few bullets came apart and even the 225 Sierra BT's staid together and looked perfect. On game many of these same bullets would core separate. I think the soaked newsprint lacks strength and stresses the bullet in a very uniform manner.

Putting in a couple of one inch bundles of dry newsprint within the wet newsprint media stressed the bullets far more and recovered bullets were more similar to those recovered from game.

One can easily put a dry magazine (one with photo paper would fare pretty well) to replicate the entry or the odd bone/ heavy muscle that a bullet would encounter in an animal.

A thin playboy to start and a thicker lieberal doctrine pamphlet to replicate "the bone" is what I'd do. Which bone...I'll let you guess:onCrack:

Thanks for understanding Joe m. It is a lot of newspaper to collect. I wanted to test all the bullets at the same time for the most accurate comparison but I'm thinking now that I might test the most popular weight first (lets say 120gr to 140gr) and the others later. I got to admit I bit more that I can chew and I hate to have you guys waiting. Trust me I'm not backing out!

Scam?

Wanna bet bcsteve is selling the damn donations?

All those bullets are probably going to Asian street gangs. And the proceeds are being snorted up Steve’s nose. Whatever is left over goes to the crack hoes.

Wish I had thought of that one myself.

Hey Steve, if you can’t send us any bullet info, can you at least send us some pics of the hoes you are banging?

After much anticipation:redface: , the .264 bullet test has finally been shot:sniper: :dancingbanana: . Everything went well, shot all the bullets supplied by the CGN members (thanks again). I'll need a few days to clean all those bullets from bits of newspaper, weight them, measure them and take pics. Once it's ready I'll post the results on a new thread.
