27-28 Sep 2014 Precision Rifle Clinic CFB Petawawa Debrief Here!

27-28 Sep 2014 Precision Rifle Clinic CFB Petawawa, Register here with me!

Registered for my second go around!

Canted rail, detachable mags, hand loads instead of factory..... Should run a little smoother for me! And all are easy things I took away from the last session.

Noobs, get signed up while there is room!!!! It's definitely worth it

Thanks for the great recommendation, but we are up to 20 clinic (paid up) attendees so far! Still some room. Not many of these clinics here in Ontario (yet). :)

Cheers,
Barney

Hey Barney.. still wondering about this question:

Is a Vortex Viper PST (FFP) 6-24 or a Burris MTAC 6.5-20 (SFP) enough scope for this clinic? My MTAC would be on a .223, the Viper on a .308.

Depending on the answer, I'll bring one rifle or the other and will be working up optimal loads over the summer..

Thanks!

Will you be coming to BC for anything in the forseeable future?

My schedule is still goofy for the summer and fall. I cannot commit to much, that's the problem. Not only is my ORA Precision Rifle Match Director role very busy, I still have to help out with the DCRA's Nationals in late August. So planning much for the fall is gonna be touch and go. I have to switch jobs and that's a major undertaking for the fall. That's why I cannot commit to much after the summer!

I would love to be on a road trip this summer, but it's not looking too open right now. I have to take one day at a time since I'm not returning to the (predictable and easily anticipated) high school classroom like I have been doing for the past 29 summers. :D

Still spots open for this PR Clinic.

Barney

Hey Guys
If you had a $1000. more or less to buy a scope for this course and style of competition, what would your choice be? Actual experience is preferred. I have researched and read tilll my head hurts. It will be going on a browning BAR hogstalker 308 that will shoot under an inch all day at 100 yrds with a bushnell 4-12x on it.
thanks - j

Bushnell elite 6500 series or Vortex series of PR scope!

I'm at 22 paid up shooters. 6 more spots left! I just finished 2 days of a PR clinic at Base Borden for the ORA and they had a hoot of a time. :D

We will have fun!

Cheers,
Barney

I have a Bushnell Elite Tactical 6500 which I used last year for the same clinic.
I recently bought a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50mm in First Focal Plane.
The FFP is amazing since your reticle grows while you zoom this enables you to make corrections at any magnification.
You see the shot went 3 MOA right you can either use a hold or dial it in to be right on target.
I'm now hooked on FFP scopes.

Last year I picked up a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50mm in FFP for just sub $1000 lightly used and it is amazing! I completely recommend this optic. I had to send mine out to have the battery cover replaced, 3 week turn around and all expenses covered. Vortex is a great company to deal with.

Hey Teach, I know your not running a standby list but if 4 spots open up I will fill them.

Looking forward to seeing you guys up there.
