hey guys im about to start a build on a 270 ai and im wondering if anyone here has load data for this cartridge or might be able to point me in the right direction on where to find some, thanks 7
 
try starting with a max load for the 270 and work up aprox 5% over that. watch for presure signs as the ai can be loaded hot without showing signs. check your loads over a crony. if the velocity seems to high back off.

Good advice,as Chappy says high pressure does not always show up in with the normal signs in Improved cartridges.Your chrony is your friend! Mur
 
I have considered a 270AI in the past. Does anyone know who rechambers a 270 Winchester to 270AI. I assume that the barrel has to come off to do this but I believe my 303 Epps was rechambered through the receiver. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
anydecent gunsmith should be able to ream out a 270 win to 270 ai, im rebarreling because i want a heavier longer barrel but if your happy with your barrel now then its usully 150-250 for the smith to ream out the chamber if he has the reamer. thanks guys for the info
 
be careful starting at MAX 270 loads... the AI in .270 garb has little capacity increase over the standard 270. like less than 1%. You'd be better starting at .270Win staring loads...or just a little over that

the AI really has little to gain over the 270, so if you find huge gains, watch your pressure carefully
 
Pay attention to what Nanuk says. The formula for increased safe velocity will be 1/4 of the percentage of increased case capacity. So if you increase the case capacity 10% you will increase your velocity by 2.5% over the parent case's maximums. Measure your cases before and after and adjust your load estimates accordingly. - dan
 
I have a couple of ackleys, and what I like about them is not the velocity, but the fact that I can load to the max velocity for a standard case, and get much better brass life.
