270 Bee or 270 WSM

I would pick the wsm. Just because it’s lighter in the gun you listed. Brass will be cheaper to I bet and it’s not a big deal but the wsm is beltless if that matters to you

I've never owned a 270 WSM but I've had a couple of 270 Wby's, both shot well. The one I have now is a Japanese MkV Deluxe 26 inch and shoots a 130 grain Acubond at 3550 fps into 9/10's inch groups at 100 yards and those groups are repeatable. I'm using IMR 7828 with Fed 215 primers and I've got 5 loading's on some of my Wby brass now with no problems. This is one really flat shooting load and I keep it zero'd at 300 yards which means that it's roughly 2 inches high at 100 and 200 yards and roughly 2 inches low at 350. The rifle is a bit heavy but the weight tames the recoil into a very pleasant rifle to shoot. I won't pack it up a mountain hunting sheep though, I'll grab my pre-64 M70 Featherweight in 270 Win for that.
The MkV and Sako rifles are quite different and the cartridges are quite similar in performance so if I were you I'd chose the rifle you like the most before the cartridge.

And I see that as a good thing. For deer sized game, the 6.5 bore is plenty big enough, and for moose and elk the 7mm is superior. I am going with the 6.5prc for deer this year, but the 7mmstw is still my go to elk/moose round.

If and when you kill a deer with a 6.5 PRC and a 270 Winchester you will likely find there is no difference.

Is the part where we point out that a .270 actually is a 7mm and a .284 isn’t? .007” isnt the sort of thing a moose or elk is going to notice; but if they want to argue it point out that a .270 is a real 7mm:)

It's too bad no one seems to be interested in the classic 270Winchester any more, esp for deer hunting.

Not many better for that and a whole lot don't come close. Not much will be gained from either of the choices and at greater expense.

Astute observation. That being said, if the OP wants to stretch his legs he would be better served with a 7 Mag, of either flavour, than the 270s.

Good morning fellow CGN'ers

Going to buy one or the other...looking for thoughts or opinions on those who have these calibers!

I RELOAD, AMMO IS NOT A CONCERN

Sako A7 270WSM 24" barrel (6.6lbs)

Weatherby Weathermark 270Wby in 26" barrel (7.6lbs)

Will be used for mostly for deer hunting.

Not interested in 270 Winchester, looking for something more interesting :)

Thanks in advance!

I've owned two 270 Wby's and one 270 WSM. Both are very devastating cartridges, however the Weatherby has the advantage for velocity and an abundance of load data. The WSM would almost equate to the Wby. if it had a 26" barrel..........most are manufactured with the 24" barrel, along with less load data.

270 wsm with 140gr Berger VLD's and RL 19 is all you need. If you ever forget your shells on a hunting trip good luck finding 270 Wby Mag in a Canadian Tire or Home Hardware...
