What is the better choice for a factory load .270 for deer? In terms of accuracy and consistency, I have found Federal Premium Vital-Shok 150g Sierra Gameking BTSP/BTBM and Hornady Superformance 140g SST shoot the best. However I have no idea how either of these loads compare/differ on game as I have no shot anything with it. Would sticking to either of these be best of is there different loads I should try? Shooting range will be 100 yards and less for the most part.

Pretty well anything your rifle shoots well will kill a deer. Both loads you listed typically work well in most rifles but only one way to confirm that....buy a box.

As I said, the two brands I have listed are the most accurate in my rifle of all the types I have tried as of yet and at 100 yards their POI is within 1.5 inches between each other and I would not be concerned about switching between the two without making scope adjustments. However what I am looking for is effectiveness on deer. I have read conflicting reports of the Hornady SST, some say it works very well others have said it fragments far too much and is not effective. This is the ammo I would like to use since it is the most accurate and it does cost less than the Federal, but if it's not going to do the job very well...

Deer are small and easy to kill. 270 is a moose caliber, so anything will work on deer. Don't over think this.

This!

I shot my moose every year for nearly 20 using 270 federal powershok 150 or Remington core lokd out to 300 yards so for deer just find what works in your rifle and use it in confidence.

A .270 can make a dear do a cartwheel with a half gainer and gut it at the same time. Use whatever is accurate for your gun.

For deer you don't need all these fancy high performance bullets/cartridges. Even the cheapest standard loads will do. Save you money. The standard 130gr Remington, Winchester, Federal will work just fine.
