.270 for varmints???

the two diameters are pretty close and velocities are similar, so I think the comparison is quite valid ;) maybe its time in the thread to post a picture of one of your 270s laying on the carpet then a close up of the barrel stamping :onCrack:

Well there is no doubt that higher velocities and hievier Varmint bullets make for an intresting and dramatic varmint shoot!
I think if your rifle likes 90s or lighter, why the hell not use it! I would do it my self. But y 270 spits them out, never put a whole lot of effort into the development however?

So, what's your point?

my point is the same as the one you made

Well, since you want to make this a .260 thread.... how fast can I get a 90 or 95 going out of mine? :p

Groundhog medicine

Getting this thread back on track :D Here's a pic of what I have prescribed for Mr. Groundhog.

Nickle plated Winchester .270 brass - $.50
Winchester large rifle primer - $.03
51 grains of Hogdon Varget - $.18
Speer 90gr TNT hollowpoint - $.20
Seeing Mr. Groundhog disappear in a red mist - Priceless!

Well I finally had a chance to go out & shoot a few of the .270 90gr loads I made a couple of weeks ago. I used my savage 111, & was shooting @ 100yrds in a light breeze, sitting, offhand without a rest. Not too bad for offhand shooting. Now if they would just cut those hay fields...

3 shots into this ghog target. There is one shot below the head bullseye. It's hard too see but there, look for the white dot.

Does anyone know where I can find some more dirt pigs??? That prick Bigredd brought his buddy up and gone and killed 'em all on me lands. Thinkin' I'm gonna have to charge them next time as an entertainment fee. My 270 Remington is going for a walk on Friday with me....thats it!

one day after school was out last year i loaded up about 200 rounds for my 7 MAG. they were 100g hornady hp's with 76.5 grains of RL 22. they kicked ass for gophers and yotes. went about 4000fps and shot flat out past 300 yds. i was quite impressed. i've never seen so many gophers vaporized, shot in half.or become air borne in one day. seems to be a rival to my 22-250 goin the same speed
