hey their

i have a savage 111 in .270 win. now correct me if im wrong but would i be able to buy a .338-06 barrel and i wouldnt have to change anything else? would i hvae to whole bolt becasue different pressure?

how hard are the barrels on these to change. i have a shop and have worked on heavy equpiment cars and large trucks. would this be a hard thing to do? what else would i have to change?

thanx im just thinking about this project.

You can buy pre-threaded barrels for the Savage, and as adjusting the headspace is done on these with the receiver threading/barrel nut combo, you'll be good to go. The bolt face of your 270 will work fine. Savages are extremely easy to work on, one of the reasons for thier popularity with multi-caliber enthusasts. - dan

You shouldn't have too much trouble. I always leave the barrel threading and head spacing to a gunsmith. I'm a licensed mechanic, but I'll gladly pay someone that's a professional. When I re barreled my win 30-06 receiver to 338-06, my mag well had to be modified a little to accommodate the COL of the 338-06 A-square a couple thou off the lands.
Love the cartridge, and you won't be disappointed. This 'non-magnum' will take anything down on this continent!
