.270 vs 30.06 vs .308

Actually, the 270 is heavier and still kicks a bit harder. So, who knows…maybe make?

I, also have m70 1954 in 06, that is one of the easiest kicking/shooting rifles I own…but that rifle is in a category of its own.

Btw. Thanks for correcting me…yea, there is no such a thing as TOO MANY guns :)

Could be stock design. My 270 Win model 70 with the factory monte carlo stock used to rabbit punch my cheekbone every time I fired it. Switched it our for a safari type stock, no more issues that way. - dan

Damn you need to share your data for that 200 30-06 @ 2900fps please!

You won't find those loads in manuals. The loads in manuals are purposely kept low for semi auto, pump actions and even some of the weaker types of receivers which are often chambered for the 30-06.

My bad, I must have had 2900fps on my mind and I should have proof read before posting.

My apologies.

I corrected the post you referred to and changed that velocity to 2700fps, which is easily doable and the load is a mauler on game.

I can tell you, it's possible to get enough H4831ssc into the 30-06 case to get well past 2700fps safely, in a strong, modern action.
