I've tried H4831 with other 130's with decent success, but I couldn't reach maximum charges without lots of pressure signs.

I'd like to get these Accubonds moving at close to 3000fps or better with .75MOA or better accuracy, and would love to do it with a temperature stable powder.

This is in a 22" barrel in a Stevens 200. Any advice of what has worked for you in a similar situation would be very helpful.

TIA :)

Every rifle is unique unto it's self. What works in one rifle may not work in another.
Suprise, suprise no instant answer to this.
Exprementation is the only way to find out.
Buy a couple of manuals and and start tweeking.

Lefty - Yes I'm aware they all have different sweet spots. I guess using the word "recipe" was too specific. I'm really just wondering what powders are working well for people. It will give me an idea of which ones I should consider trying first. Powder is over $40/lb locally.

Spitzer - Thanks. :)

Big fan of H4831 ... for me 60gr. and you often have to coax it to get that much into Winchester brass. The other must is Federal GM210M primers.

I have just finished loading that exact combination to test for pressure, working up of course. I previously used Federal brass but had pressure signs before getting that high. The Federal didn't stand up well to begin with, so I've chucked it and replaced it with Winchester.

I had a bit more H4831 on hand than I thought, so after I see what the max load is for my rifle I'll try a few weights near max to test for accuracy. Maybe it will do better with the new brass.

I'd use actually velocity more than book "max" loads. If you don't have a chronograph I'd suggest using powder(s) with appropriate burn rates and just go for accuracy as you will have no real idea what velocity you are getting. H4831 has been a go to powder for me with 270's.

keep adding powder until your chrony reads 3000 fps then tweak for accuracy by trying some different seating depths

What velocity are you getting? A difference of a couple hundred FPM is nothing if you can hit where you are aiming everytime. Speed is not everything.

Well it looks like H4831 will do pretty well with the new brass. It was far too windy to shoot for groups so I just did a little plinking at 100+ yards at the local gravel pit, to see what pressure signs I got.

60 grains had a slight resistance when opening the bolt, barely noticable. With the Federal brass I had major pressure signs at 59 grains. I notice that the point of impact is higher with this brass, even with smaller charges, so I'm assuming that velocity must be higher as well. I'll check it on the chrony first chance I get.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better weather and I can head to the range to test for accuracy with the last bit of this powder. If it looks promising, and I think it will, I'll pick up more of the H4831 (or the short cut version). Otherwise I'll go with the RL 22 that Spitzer had good results with. I haven't seen any H1000 in the local stores.
